Research

Research at the IPA focuses on occupational diseases and work-related health risks as well as their causes and underlying mechanisms. Overall aim is to develop strategies for health preventive measures at the workplace, e.g., reducing exposure to potential hazards, early diagnosis of work-related diseases or their successful treatment by developing new therapeutic measures. Of primary importance are diseases of the respiratory system, skin and urogenital system with particular focus on allergies and tumour formation.

IIPA is also Institute of Occupational Medicine at the Ruhr-University of Bochum.

In order to finally reach its research aims, five Centers at IPA (Medicine, Epidemiology, Allergology/Immunology, Toxicology and Molecular Medicine) are closely working together using cutting-edge-technologies in their field of interests.
