Bangladesh - Berlin Statement adopted

A high-ranking delegation from Bangladesh, led by State Secretary for Labour Ali Azam, have been guests at the DGUV in Berlin and Dresden on 26 and 27 September 2019. Representatives of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) took part in the discussions. The discussions provided a good opportunity to draw first conclusions of the DGUV project financed by the GIZ to set up an accident insurance in Bangladesh. At the end of the discussions, the Berlin statement was adopted, in which the representatives of the Government of Bangladesh expressed their commitment to launch an accident insurance system as part of a pilot project. This pilot project would be an important move from knowledge transfer to practical implementation.
