Research by the German Social Accident Insurance

The fundamental strategy for research conducted by the German Social Accident Insurance is set out in a position paper in the form of guiding principles. These guiding principles were updated by the responsible bodies at the DGUV in September 2018. The position paper describes the character and particular aspects of research conducted by the accident insurance institutions:

The principles were first intended to apply to the field of prevention; they were then extended to cover also research into occupational diseases and rehabilitation. The principles:

• define the objectives of research,
• illuminate the general orientation,
• describe characteristic features, particularities and framework conditions
• outline the interaction with other functions and
• specify foci and priorities.
